We compare VPNs so you don't have to read twenty homepages to find one that fits what you actually do online.

NameVPN is an independent site that reviews and ranks VPN services. We built it because most "best VPN" lists online read like ads — long on superlatives, short on the actual downsides of each product. We wanted something more useful: pick what you need a VPN for, see a ranking built around that, and see the honest trade-offs of each pick, not just the highlights.

How we choose what to recommend

We evaluate VPNs by looking at what's independently verifiable, not just what a company claims about itself.

• Proof, not promises

  Independent audits, open-source code, and clear ownership matter more to us than a "no logs" line on a homepage.

• How little you have to hand over

  Providers that let you sign up without an email, or pay in ways that don't tie back to you, score higher.

• Speed and reliability

  A VPN you switch off because it's slow protects nothing, so we favor stable connections and modern protocols.

• Value

  We look at the price after any intro deal ends, how many devices you can connect, and whether a free plan exists.
